Starting Therapy

  • On the bottom of this page is a “New Client Interest Form” button. Simply click the button and complete the brief form. I will contact you by phone to chat about what brings you to therapy. We will schedule your first appointment if we both feel I am a good fit for your needs.

  • 1444 West Main Street Suite C
    Ripon, CA 95366

My office is located upstairs, inside “Nutrition 16:24”. Look for the sign for “Nutrition 16:24” and walk inside. You will be greeted in the lobby, and I’ll walk with you upstairs. There is also free parking outside of the building.

  • Your first appointment lasts approximately 50 minutes. We will talk about your present situation and start discussing your therapy goals. I will share some information about my therapy approach so that you can decide whether I am a good fit for you. We will discuss scheduling, a few policies, frequency of sessions, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.

Please bring payment for your first session. Payment can be made by credit or debit card, cash, or check. A credit or debit card is securely kept on file for follow-up sessions, and fees are collected using an auto-pay system. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

  • Follow-up sessions are 50 or 90 minutes, depending on the type of therapy you receive. We will review your progress and setbacks and set an agenda for each session. You are responsible for having a particular problem or goal in mind. You’ll often have an exercise or “homework” assignment between sessions. To get the most out of your therapy experience, it is important that you engage in between-session work so that you can integrate the concepts and make progress toward your goals.

  • I offer in-person and telehealth sessions.

Telehealth, also called online counseling or video therapy, is available for all clients. You may use it on an ongoing basis or intermittently. It’s a convenient option when you are short on time, don’t live near my office, or just prefer to do therapy from the comfort of your home. Our sessions are conducted through a secure video platform. All you need is a device that connects to the internet and some privacy.

  • 50 minute sessions - $150
    ART sessions - $200

All ART sessions are 90 minutes

I am not in-network with any insurance companies. Choosing a private pay option has certain benefits for you:

Insurance companies require that you meet “medical necessity” and specific criteria for diagnosing a mental disorder, which is often not needed or relevant to our work.

You won’t have a diagnosis label permanently attached to your medical record.

Your records are protected, which means that very personal information about you cannot be obtained by your insurance company.

Rather than your insurance company dictating your care, you and I can work collaboratively on a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

I will gladly provide you with documentation, called a “super bill”, to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes.

Effective January 1, 2022, federal law requires all healthcare providers (including mental health providers) to provide a Good Faith Estimate Notice to consumers to comply with the No Surprises Act. The Act requires providers to inform their uninsured and private pay patients that they have a right to a “Good Faith Estimate” to help them estimate the expected charges they may be billed.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment for any reason, please contact the office or cancel online 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. You will be charged the full session fee if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance.

  • I offer a limited number of contracted rates through local churches for clients experiencing financial hardship. Your church pays the balance for a predetermined number of sessions, thus making it possible for you to access professional Christian counseling when needed. When we speak by phone, please inform me of your desire to access reduced rates with your church and I will let you know if a reduced rate is available to you.

  • Therapy should not be ended casually or abruptly. The termination process is just that - a process. Together, we take a step back and look at the growth that has unfolded over the course of treatment. We will also spend time discussing plans for maintaining your progress.
